I think it’s safe to say that it’s officially, FINALLY spring (and almost summer) in New England. A new season is the perfect time to experiment with new styles, especially in your home, and this month’s feature is all about that.
Last week, we had a full house at our ‘Sip and Learn’ event with Northshore Home magazine focused on bath and kitchen trends. Hosted at our Beverly showroom, the lively panel chat was moderated by Editor, Nancy Berry, and featured a group of design experts sharing their perspectives on ‘must-haves’ for your house. Some takeaways? The farmhouse sink is here for the long haul, people can’t get enough of grey-toned kitchens, steam showers are hotter than hot (literally and figuratively), marble and slate are popular accents for bathrooms… and the list goes on. As is the case with all Designer Bath events, the ‘paparazzi’ were present – take a peek at some photos from the night here.
Also on the topic of fads and crazes, my sister, our Showroom Brand Manager, Mindy Sevinor, and I recently attended the Salone del Mobile trade show in Milan, Italy to scope out the newest of the new. We are still daydreaming about all of the ‘wow!’ pieces we saw, and are eager to share our experience with all of you. Without further ado, I’m passing the May torch to Mindy, our featured guest blogger for this month. GRAFF AMETIS SHOWER SYSTEM
I love everything about Graff and was enthralled by the cutting-edge pieces we saw in Italy. Their aesthetic is so different from many of the shower systems we typically see. The company is a true manufacturer; it’s a family-owned brand, with their factory in Poland, and primary U.S. office in Milwaukee. The showerheads are art forms – distinctive and full of character – which isn’t surprising given that Graff is familiar with fashion and haute couture. The brand has collaborated with designer, Davide Oppizzi on the Ametis line. View Davide’s collection video here
GRAFF SENTO FAUCET
The Sento collection is synonymous with ‘sleek.’ These single-hole options are available in an endless array of finishes, something that was very surprising for us to see at a European trade show. Historically, the most popular finish in European countries has been Polished Chrome. It was refreshing to view this Graff faucet in variations of brass, black, gunmetal and white. I love the handle proportions of this faucet, as well as the knurling detail that was incorporated into some of the finishes.
GRAFF LUNA SHOWERHEAD
Keeping with the Graff theme (we just couldn’t get enough!), the Luna series was definitely one of my favorites. The pieces are exciting, fresh and innovative with their clean geometry and unique flair. Everything is elongated and statement-making.
GRAFF LUNA FAUCET
Yes – if you can believe it – this really is a faucet! This wall-mount fixture will instantly elevate any powder room and make it the coolest one on the block. This piece does the talking with its exaggerated, dramatic curve; it evokes a contemporary spa-like feel with the way the water pours down in a soothing way.
THG PARIS COLLECTION
I couldn’t choose one piece, that’s how much I loved THG’s new offerings. Traditionally known for making faucets seen on luxury yachts, the brand is growing their line by adding more transitional series with clean refinement. The THG products we saw at Salone del Mobile, in addition to the Baccarat and Lalique collaborations we’re used to seeing, reflected an elegant transitional look. The displays featured a mix of finishes, stone accents, hand-tooled detailing and knurling. THG has been a family-owned company since 1956, and we were privileged enough to meet the owners at the show.
