Betsy Bassett’s Showroom Favorites – September 2017

By |2018-04-23T23:56:27-04:00September 7th, 2017|Showroom Favorites|

A Note From Jason

Greetings all,
We are starting to get a hint of that refreshing chill in the evenings as we savor the final taste of summer. Fall is just around the corner and as the seasons change, we feel the time is ripe for new beginnings. Designer Bath & Salem Plumbing Supply recently started a new chapter with the official opening of our Watertown showroom.
Months in the making, this second showroom location is truly a labor of love and we’re looking forward to welcoming family, friends, clients and colleagues into our new space. The Watertown showroom has been carefully laid out to offer an inspiring sensory experience. Everywhere you look, there are rooms and walls full of fixtures and accessories for the kitchen and bath in thoughtfully-curated displays. One of our favorite novelty pieces (and an inevitable conversation starter) is the Crosswater bicycle sink basin that greets guests as they enter. Yes, it’s a sink on wheels – come check it out; we promise you’ll be delighted!
And speaking of friends, we are thrilled to have one of our long-term design partners join us for this month’s ‘Showroom Favorites.’ Introducing our September guest expert (and the very first blogger to select pieces from our Watertown showroom!), Betsy Bassett of Betsy Bassett Interiors. Betsy is the principal of a high-end residential interior design firm based in Newton, MA. We’ve had the privilege of collaborating with this talented designer on numerous projects over the years, and she has twice been the recipient of one of our Designers SHINE Awards. See below for Betsy’s top five picks when it comes to creating a serene and stylish bathroom.
Stay in touch and swing by 604 Pleasant Street in Watertown to say hello!

BRIZO LITZE FAUCET

I love the sleek design of this faucet. It really speaks to a mechanical environment, and the lines are a tasteful balance of industrial and elegant.

MTI BATHS JULIET FREESTANDING TUB

The organic shape really resonates with me; it’s feminine without being too stark and minimal. The lines are sensual, warm and sculptural. You’d be very happy to look at this piece every day.

AXOR THERMOSTATIC SHOWER PIPE

This shower system has so much personality. I would definitely use this in a kid’s bathroom. It reminded me a bit of the Tin Man. I love the funnel shape and the layout of where the handles are; it has a bit of whimsy and takes design to the next level.

STONE FOREST URBAN MULTICOLORED ONYX VESSEL

A vessel bowl made of Onyx is simply spectacular. It’s all about Mother Nature embedding this stone with amazing veins and character. Here’s a piece that you’re happy to embrace and use regularly. It’s a show piece.

STEAMIST ELECTRONIC SHOWER SYSTEM AND STEAM GENERATOR

We’ve used steam systems in projects and all of our clients, mostly men, are excited by them. This gives men their luxury spa moment. We love that the technology features a touch-screen and the control panel can be programmed from your iPad or iPhone in the house. It belongs in a Man Cave right next to a home gym.

Peter & Desi Souhleris’ Showroom Favorites – August 2017

By |2024-04-30T08:16:07-04:00August 8th, 2017|Showroom Favorites|

A Note From Jason

Happy August, everyone! The month of August is similar to that feeling of approaching the top of a ferris wheel. This metaphor applies to all of us at Designer Bath in relation to the upcoming opening of our Watertown showroom. The excitement and adrenaline have been building and we’ve almost reached the peak, the culmination of hard work and planning – we truly cannot wait to soon share this new space with you.

Our summer has been busy and non-stop with recent highlights including: our 6th annual Designers SHINE Awards and our sponsorship of the Paddle for Plummer and North Shore Cancer WALK charity events.

Our SHINE Awards, which wrapped up last month, gave us a chance to honor and celebrate the New England design industry and our loyal clients. We were absolutely blown away by the outstanding entries that we received. Congratulations to Mary Michael O’Hare of MMO Designs for winning this year’s ‘Overall Excellence in Design’ Award. Photos of Mary’s project and the five other winning spaces can be viewed in the gallery on our website.

June and July welcomed opportunities to give back to our community with the North Shore Cancer WALK and Paddle for Plummer philanthropic initiatives. The North Shore Cancer WALK is a 10K stroll through Salem, to raise money for cancer research and awareness, while Paddle for Plummer, an all-day paddle boarding event, benefits the Plummer Youth Promise, an organization that builds a sense of family for youth in need.

With a new month comes another installment of our ‘Showroom Favorites’ blog series, and yet again, we are joined by a talented industry colleague. August’s guests, Peter and Desi Souhleris from A&E’s ‘Flipping Boston’, own the property buying and selling company, CityLight Homes, and star in Build.Design.Live’s  new show, ‘Bragging Rights.’ Peter and Desi are longtime friends of the Designer Bath family and we love collaborating on projects together. Browse their five bath picks below.

Here’s hoping that August’s ferris wheel ride is smooth and allows you to savor every moment of this season.

Stay in touch and come visit us in Watertown later this summer!

HANSGROHE PURAVIDA FAUCET

Modern! Modern! Modern! If you close your eyes, you may think you’re in Europe but finally, modern is showing up in households all over America and we’re so excited! Just like a BMW quietly shouts ‘sleek German style’ so too does this gorgeous Hansgrohe chrome and white faucet. Exhibiting both masculine and feminine lines, it is sure to please the trendsetters out there! Go for it and be daring. Modern – welcome to America.

WETSTYLE C COLLECTION MIRROR

Who says that sexy always has to be curvy? This clean, aligned rectangular mirror, though simple in shape, is quite a statement piece for your bathroom. Its shiny chrome frame and shelf, crisp glass center and peekaboo window make for the perfect complement to your vanity or dressing area. And the best part about it is – your own style will really be personalized according to what color you have on your wall behind it. I’m a ‘go white’ kind of girl, so a clean look with a bit of shine for personality is just the way I like it!

DORNBRACHT ‘JUST RAIN’ RAIN SHOWER CEILING MOUNT

Let it rain! This is a personal favorite of ours. There’s no mistaking this rain head for any other, and just one glance says it all. Just looking at it makes you feel like you want to sit back and relax as you escape into your very own oasis. Only one problem… once we install this in our own new bathroom at home, Desi may never get out of the shower!

WETSTYLE CUBE COLLECTION FREESTANDING TUB

Being that we are both of Greek descent and travel there often, we definitely are drawn to the clean white style that is reminiscent of the Greek Islands. This tub says just that! We can picture this gorgeous soaker tub in front of a large seaside window surrounded by white pebble stones. Your mind’s eye takes one look and thinks: ‘There’s nothing else I should be doing right now other than this!’ Create your very own Mykonos…

WETSTYLE M COLLECTION VANITY, STORAGE CUBBY, MEDICINE CABINET AND LINEN CABINET WITH CUBE COLLECTION SINK

From the first time we laid eyes upon this collection in the showroom, it was love at first sight! We thought this love affair may pass or fade, however it hasn’t. This hands-down has to be one of our favorite collections on so many levels. The feeling of being transformed into your very own spa area is the aspect that we love most. We can picture our crisp, white rolled towels in the linen closet and sea sponge and pumice stone in a white dish on the vanity’s edge. This luxurious wood finish is both contemporary and timeless. Spa, spa, spa – need we say more?!

Bradley Michael Cashin’s Showroom Favorites – July 2017

By |2018-04-05T21:32:38-04:00July 5th, 2017|Showroom Favorites|

A Note From Jason

Greetings and Happy July! June flew by – as it always does – and it’s time once again to wish beautiful America the happiest of birthdays. Whether you’ll be celebrating on the sand in Nantucket or on a rooftop terrace in Boston, a brilliant firework display is something to look forward to every 4th of July.

While we love watching fireworks light up the night sky, they’re also pretty spectacular in the form of interior fixtures. The Dunkirk Chandelier by Hudson Valley will light up the ceiling of our soon-to-debut Watertown showroom, adding a festive feel to our new space. The countdown to Watertown is on, so stay tuned!

On the topic of things that shimmer, later this month we’ll be announcing and honoring the winners of our Designers SHINE Awards; our annual contest that celebrates creative and inspired design solutions for New England residential bath, kitchen and specialty plumbing projects. Thank you to everyone who submitted their work for consideration – more to follow on SHINE soon. Now, without further ado, I’d like to introduce our featured designer (and the SHINE 2016 ‘Overall Excellence in Design’ Winner!) for July’s blog – Bradley Michael Cashin.

Brad, the lead designer at New England Design & Construction (NEDC) in Boston, utilizes his construction and design expertise and experience as he and the design team tackle site challenges and help each client turn their vision into reality. He and his NEDC colleagues pride themselves on their dedication to each project, which they guide from inception to completion. Take a peek at Brad’s five Designer Bath showroom favorites (coupled with insightful commentary) below.

Here’s hoping that your July goes at a leisurely pace! May you have the opportunity to enjoy the sunny days and warm nights of summer that we look forward to during the cold winter months. Stay in touch!

TOTO SOIREE WIDESPREAD LAVATORY FAUCET

The proportions of this faucet are stunning. It is best paired with a match on a long, clean vanity in a master bath. It doesn’t attempt to grab attention, but rather it becomes a supporting player in a calm and spa-like backdrop.

ROHL MICHAEL BERMAN GRACELINE TRIM

The detailing of this control/diverter piece leans on perfection. Perhaps it’s the Detroit upbringing that I share with the designer, Michael Berman, but I find the industrial, Art Deco influence and sophisticated modernism to be absolutely delicious.

STONE FOREST PAPILLON BATHTUB

I dream of creating a master bath finished completely in matte white and frameless glass except for this curvilinear sandstone soaking tub. I would love to allow sediment, time, and pressure to be the primary focus and assist one in centering themselves at the beginning and conclusion of every day.

ROHL CONTEMPORARY BRIDGE FAUCET

While I tend to avoid side sprays and opt for a simpler and cleaner kitchen counter, the quality and beauty of this post-modern object is impossible to ignore and worth sacrificing the use of a pull-down.

THE GALLEY IDEAL WORKSTATION

Frank Lloyd Wright considered the hearth to be the “psychological center of the home.” As kitchens continue to become more integrated into open floor plans and dining rituals have become less formal with our hectic lives, The Galley Sink replaces FLLW’s hearth. The sink works best on an expansive island where a family can surround it while preparing a meal together.

Jessica Klein’s Showroom Favorites – June 2017

By |2024-04-29T14:08:36-04:00June 5th, 2017|Showroom Favorites|

A Note From Jason

Hello all, and happy June! It’s time to put away those snow boots and parkas and break out the sandals and pool floats. As a prelude to BBQs and beach days, this month is a time to honor dear old Dad on Father’s Day.

Speaking of fathers, I’d like to say a huge ‘congrats’ to my own, Ralph Sevinor, who was included among the 2017 winners for Design New England’s prestigious ‘Mentors in Design’ (MIDDIES) Awards. Celebrating local design professionals in interior design, architecture and construction, the MIDDIES recognize those who share their expertise and passion with future generations. Ralph will be presented with his award at Design New England’s annual ceremony and event.

And on the topic of summer activities, did you hear the news? We’re pitching a tent and you’re invited! No, it’s not for a camping trip (though we wouldn’t mind the S’Mores and a bonfire) – it’s for our annual tent sale at our Beverly showroom. From June 17th to 24th, we’ll have our own big top full of discounts of up to 75% on fine fixtures and accessories for the bath and kitchen. We’ll have the entertainment covered as well when Sue Tabb, on-air host at MAGIC 106.7, and the MAGIC street team kick things off on the 17th with music and prizes from 10 AM to 2 PM. And because we just can’t say goodbye to a great deal, when the tent goes down, we’re extending the savings on all items inside our showroom until July 3rd. Join us for major savings and a good time!

When it comes to good times, forging relationships and diving into projects with other designers are among our favorite aspects of this business. So without further ado, I’m thrilled to share two collaborations with you. The first involves interior designer, Erin Gates, of the famed Elements of Style blog, and her office bathroom renovation, for which we provided fixtures and accessories. Take a peek at the stunning final look here. Secondly, we joined forces with delightful and talented designer/blogger, Jessica Klein, of Oh, I Design Studio, to bring you June’s ‘Showroom Favorites.’ We had a blast hosting Jessica at our showroom while she hand-picked kitchen and bath pieces to share with you! Read on to see her ‘must-have’ products.

Wishing everyone a wonderful start to the summer. Stay in touch!

LISA JARVIS ROBIN AND HOMAGE PULLS

There’s nothing I love better than a small but might detail. These brass pulls from Lisa Jarvis are stunning in person and give furniture pieces new life.

FURNITURE GUILD HAYDEN VANITY

This vanity is one that stops you in your tracks! The Cerused Oak finish and white matte Ogee countertop make the perfect pair for a classic look. The finishing touch with a a twist? The ring hardware details!

NEWPORT BRASS KEATON FAUCET

I can’t seem to stay away from the modern matte black fittings (faucets, shower heads, sinks, etc.) in kitchen and bath design. I picture this Newport Brass Keaton Faucet paired with a marble sink, white hexagon tile, and a gorgeous Turkish rug…SOLD!

HUDSON VALLEY BERKLEY WALL SCONCE

Geometric, transitional, aged brass, and with a feminine curved arm support? Need I say more?

WETSTYLE CUBE BATHTUB

Not only is this tub sleek and modern; it’s also eco-friendly with a Thermo-insulating material made from soy and mineral stone. The tub also works beautifully with the WetStyle M Series (in Walnut) – geometric (see a trend here?), Japanese-inspired, minimalist and modular.

Steven Favreau’s Showroom Favorites – May 2017

By |2018-04-23T23:46:59-04:00May 10th, 2017|Showroom Favorites|

A Note From Jason

Hello all, and cheers to a new month! Here’s hoping that April rain showers (couldn’t resist a little bathroom design joke) do indeed bring May flowers…and sunshine.

Spring is in full swing for all of us at Designer Bath. We are eagerly awaiting the grand opening of our brand new Watertown showroom, with preparations and planning well underway.

On behalf of everyone at Designer Bath, I’d like to extend a warm congrats to two of our industry colleagues, Kristina Crestin and Erin Gates, both of whom are among the winners of New England Home’s ‘5 Under 40’ awards. The awards recognize and honor the hottest emerging talent in New England’s residential design world. Designer Bath has had the pleasure of working with both Kristina and Erin, including the in-process renovation of Erin’s office bathroom. Stay tuned for the big reveal!

Speaking of innovative and brilliant designers, I am so pleased to share that Steven Favreau is the featured spotlight designer on our blog this month. We had a blast hosting the endlessly creative and always-entertaining Steven at our Beverly showroom as he selected his top five kitchen and bath product picks. See below for his choices accompanied by some can’t-miss commentary.

Wishing everyone a great May. Stay in touch!

Designer Bath threw open their doors on a rainy, spring day in April, indulging my taste for all things Favreaulous. My senses were tingling with anticipation as I trotted, tip-toed and trounced around their stunning showroom. Like a kid in Wonka’s secretive candy company, I found it tough to settle on just five delectable treats to share with you. Sinfully delicious and a feast for the eyes, what I found in their showroom ignited my imagination. Here are my five top picks of sumptuous delights.

THE GALLEY WORKSTATION

Designer Bath has teamed up with The Galley and is literally reinventing how we function in the kitchen. As one of the sole suppliers of The Galley in the Boston area, Designer Bath features new ways of meal preparation. Gone is the traditional triangle layout we are all used to (Thank Goodness!). Gone is the back and forth trading around the kitchen to prepare a meal (Hallelujah!). Designer Bath and The Galley offer us the linear workspace.

BAINULTRA AMMA BATHTUB

Even with my clothes on, this tub feels like a little slice of heaven. Featuring requisite air jets, this beauty by BainUltra, The Amma, is equipped with chroma (light) therapy (my favorite is the energizing fuchsia), sneaky little pin jets, a three-zone, heated shell and…wait for it…aroma therapy! Did I mention it fits two people? Sorry, those pics are off-limits. With dozens of bath tub options, it’s nice to see that BainUltra has put all of our hydro-desires into one glorious bath experience.

FRANZ VIEGENER THE ‘THE EDGE’ FAUCET

Although the Franz Viegener company has been around since 1899 when they first started manufacturing beer taps, their newest line for residential bathrooms is relatively recent with the release of their Premium Collection in 2008. This line of faucets and shower heads raises the bar on what is possible in contemporary and transitional bath hardware. My favorites, The Edge and Industrial Chic, send my imagination awash (pun intended) with possibilities. Available in eight finishes, including solid black (WOW!) and rose gold (double WOW!!), these stunning designs up the profile of any bathroom. Just in case you’re wondering if quality is sacrificed for sexy, think again! Franz Viegener’s products are made from 100% steel. No plastic here! Now when do we get a beer?

LISA JARVIS DECORATIVE HARDWARE

Lisa Jarvis, of New York City, has created jewelry for our cabinetry. This stunning line of haute couture elevates kitchen and bath cabinetry into the stratosphere. A picture is worth a thousand words, so that’s all I need to say.

THE FURNITURE GUILD CONTEMPORARY COLLECTION VANITIES

With the advent of big box stores attempting to capture all facets of the home decor market (including bath vanities), it is refreshing and encouraging to know that The Furniture Guild remains singular in their class, offering traditional, transitional and contemporary vanities for every design style with unparalleled craftsmanship and functionality. These beauties are not only well-made and a feast for the eyes, they also come with soft close drawers, hidden outlets and convenient compartments for blow dryers, curling irons and other beauty accoutrements. Did I mention they also do seamless countertops? With over 50 designs and finishes, The Furniture Guild is not only cutting edge and exemplary quality, the products are also
100% made in the USA!

Designer Bath in Beverly truly has everything we need for our clients’ bathrooms (plus many tantalizing goodies for the kitchen), and with a showroom twice the size about to open in Watertown, convenience will also be one of the many reasons to look no further. And if it happens to be raining when you visit, maybe they will offer you a snazzy orange logo umbrella that folds up into a holder the size of an eyeglass case. But don’t quote me.

Mr. Favreaulous, signing out.

Vani Sayeed’s Showroom Favorites – April 2017

By |2017-04-03T14:55:36-04:00April 3rd, 2017|Showroom Favorites|

A Note From Jason

Happy April! Though New England weather has yet to get the memo, the calendar says that spring has indeed arrived – finally.

New seasons are often marked by personal and professional growth, and all of us at Designer Bath are continuing the preparations for our upcoming venture – the opening of our brand new Watertown showroom, coming in May. We’ve hired some enthusiastic and experienced staff members for Watertown and can’t wait to introduce you to these new faces. More on that in the near future…

A change in season also brings new styles and trends, especially in the world of kitchen and bath design. We’re honored to say that we’re the exclusive plumbing provider in the Boston market of The Galley brand and the Galley Kitchen Workstation line. My sister Mindy, our Showroom Brand Manager, shared her thoughts on this dynamic kitchen countertop accessory system with Boston Common Magazine. In addition, our debut of The Galley was included in a recent New England Home feature, and a great piece about our showroom’s curated product selection was published on Boston Design Guide‘s blog.

For this month’s ‘Showroom Favorites’ blog spotlight, we are thrilled to feature Vani Sayeed of Vani Sayeed Studios. Vani and our team go way back, and we’ve been fortunate enough to work with this talented designer on various client projects, including the kitchen in the 2016 Junior League of Boston Show House.

Vani, a Newton-based interior designer and artist, grew up in India and received her BFA in Interior Design at the prestigious Sir J. J. School of Art in Mumbai. She moved to the United States in 1998 and obtained her MFA in Design from the University of Iowa. Her global immersion and cross-cultural experiences are evident in the composition of the beautiful, dynamic spaces she creates. See below for Vani’s five spring-ready product picks for your kitchen and bath.

Here’s to warmer weather (hopefully one of these days) and a wonderful April for you. Stay in touch!

HUDSON VALLEY LIGHTING HEIRLOOM PENDANT

This classic fixture with the exposed Edison bulb always creates a statement, hung alone or in a cluster.

ROHL PERRIN & ROWE BRIDGE FAUCET WITH SIDESPRAY

The versatile aesthetic and gorgeous polished nickel finish of this faucet are a win in any kitchen. When paired with the lighting fixture above, together they make a stunning marriage.

ELECTRIC MIRROR TRINITY 30″ DIA LIGHTED MIRROR

Pretty, practical, and perfectly scaled; this mirror is like the sun, especially with the glow around it!

DORNBRACHT WALL-MOUNTED BASIN MIXER WITH INDIVIDUAL ROSETTES

With spring in the air, the rose gold finish is a fresh take on plumbing fixtures…a touch of bling.

STONE FOREST PINK ONYX WABI VESSEL

Chic and stylish, this stunning pink onyx vessel sink is precious in every way. It will certainly make you feel like a goddess.

Jason Sevinor’s Showroom Favorites – February 2017

A Note From Jason

Happy belated New Year to everyone! It’s hard to believe that it’s already February. By now, 2017 is in full swing and we’ve been busy here at Designer Bath & Salem Plumbing Supply. A quick recap of the past several months – we hosted our 5th Annual ‘What’s On Tap’ showroom sampler event, won the title of ‘Best Kitchen and Bath Fixtures’ by Northshore Home and Boston Home and flaunted our New England Patriots pride by providing the fixtures and accessories for Intel’s Super Bowl ad featuring Tom Brady.

This year promises to be non-stop and exciting for us as we’re gearing up for the grand opening of a second showroom that will be almost twice as large as our Beverly one. Coming to you this summer — a Designer Bath location in Watertown, MA, filled to the brim with stylish, state-of-the-art products for every home. Stay tuned for more details.

We’re also launching a new monthly series featuring the best-of-the-best products from our showroom, as chosen by some of our interior designer friends around Greater Boston. I figured I’d kick this one off myself, so see below for my top picks for your kitchen and bath.

I hope your 2017 is off to a happy and healthy start! Stay in touch.

FRANZ VIEGENER INDUSTRIAL CHIC SERIES

With its factory-inspired structure, this faucet is a nice blend of function and style. The bright red knobs give a bold pop of color against typical bathroom neutrals and offer versatility. We recently incorporated this piece into a child’s bathroom for one of our clients.

CROSSWATER WALDORF TUB

The architecture of this tub is simultaneously dramatic and unique without being over-the-top or too funky. It’s an eye-catching centerpiece in any bathroom.

FURNITURE GUILD WINSTON VANITY

Crafted using a blend of Burnished Brass and English Walnut, this vanity features a fully-integrated countertop, and looks great in a bathroom with warm wood cabinetry and gold accents.

THE GALLEY IDEAL WORKSTATION

For those who love to cook and entertain, this multi-functional countertop workstation is a must-have. As the exclusive New England provider of this brand, we are thrilled to welcome The Galley to our showroom selection.

DORNBRACHT RAIN SHOWER

Rain shower heads are definitely the “it” fixture for transitional and contemporary bathrooms right now. Designed to mimic the feel and experience of raindrops falling, these pieces include multiple settings and can spread water over a large surface area.

Amazing Demeanor, Professionalism, and Customer-Focused Response

By |2024-04-30T17:44:45-04:00February 7th, 2017|Homeowner Testimonials|

It is a true challenge to find excellent service. It is like fishing in a bucket if you are looking for lukewarm to offensive customer service. I could spend my entire day writing emails to companies that need improvement. I have worked for a company for 33 years that is constantly striving to reach the next level of excellence in customer service. So, I know what it looks like. Michelle Ritchie is a unicorn. She is a special employee and outstanding representative of your company’s brand.

My husband and I renovated our home 5 years ago and decided to do business with Salem Plumbing. We have done some business with Salem Plumbing on previous renovation projects. Never to this magnitude. It was our incredible fortune to bump into Michelle to support us in our project. The products were perfect and are part of the beautiful home we have created. She has stood by every single product that we purchased. We have had a handful of issues due to manufacture/installation problems. Each time we call, she handles it without question or pain.

This is just a very quick thank you to Michelle in recognition of her amazing demeanor, professionalism, and customer-focused personalized response to supporting your patrons.,We have recommended Salem Plumbing and Michelle, of course, over other suppliers every time and will continue to do so.

We Cannot Express How Grateful We Are

By |2024-04-30T17:45:31-04:00February 7th, 2017|Homeowner Testimonials|

We wanted to highlight the efforts of Michelle Ritchie. In the middle of renovating 3 bathrooms, our contact point at Designer Bath was let go and then we discovered our order was not accurate. Michelle stepped in and took over, and went above and beyond to make sure that problems areas were resolved quickly and worked with us to get everything we needed to successfully outfit three bathrooms. We cannot express how grateful we are for her help, flexibility and her fabulous attitude. Thanks!
